Leather Loving

Leather.  I fell in love with leather this winter.  Please don't think I'm talking about 'manly' leather or 'back to the 80s' leather, I love feminine inspired leather.  What do I mean by this?  Well I love when you take a leather skirt or dress and either the designer has used a very girly pattern, or you match it with a cute floral blouse, or perhaps a sequined top.  I love it when you just change the colour of the leather and make it pink, red, baby blue.  This morning I found Aje was on the same track as me.  Have a look at some of their leather skirts and dresses.  They are a tad masculine but all have some element of being very feminine and girly.

Drop your Crotch

I've officially named this 'bitch week'.  Drop-crotch pants are my idea of hell.  I'm not totally sure that drop-crotch is the correct terminology but it's a nice bit of imagery, don't you think?  I suppose if you wear drop-crotch pants there is no need to worry about wedgies, visible panty lines, or the dreaded cameltoe.  On the other hand you look like you're wearing a nappy.  How on earth can this be good?  People grow out of them for a reason.  Next time you pick up a pair of these pants ask yourself one question, do you really want to wear droopy drawers?  I think you'll find the answer is no.

Jumping-jack-suits

I'm a tad scared about jumpsuits coming back into fashion.  They're unflattering on any body type and they give you a big butt.  Worst of all, they make it impossible to pee.  Imagine you have gone out for a day of shopping.  When you've finally found something you want (a cute tee) you realize your bladder really wants to take a tinkle.  There is only one top left and another person is eyeing it off.  If you buy the top then you are going to pee yourself in-front of a whole bunch of strangers.  But because it takes 20 hours to get undressed you can't pee or you'll miss out on the top.  The thought runs through your head, if only I wore a pair of shorts and a top.  I would never have gotten into such a pickle.  So I hope this story has taught you something, forget jumpsuits, they aren't worth it.... ever!

Plus, don't write on pain killers.  It makes for bad writing.

Me and my love

I apparently have to much time on my hands now that uni has finished for the semester.  All I seem to do is find things to buy.  This dress is from General Pants Co.  I can just imagine it with a pair of black opaque stockings and some insanely sexy ankle boots, specifically a pair from Nine West that I'm stopping myself from buying.  Dress is $79 online.  Grab it while you can.  Boots on sale for $239.  Going once, going twice, gone.

Me and my love

A bowl.  Not just any bowl.  A green bowl.  A randomly opened green bowl.  Many questions need answering about who and why this bowl was created.  Still, it is worthy of being a "me and my love".  I may not understand it but I would put it in my house.  A bowl in need of a thesis is a bowl worthy to grace a tabletop.  Designed by Eva Solo and named Smiley bowl.  Available in six colours.

Photos say a thousand words

Photos say a thousands words.  Instead of stringing together a bunch of words only creating a long rambling thought, I will leave you with a bunch of photos creating a long rambling visual dialogue.  Summer seems far away but I assure you it's not.  With a blink of an eye the beach will be swarmed with 1950s inspired bathers.  Soak up the (imaginary) sun, and ponder what tans lines will occur from these bad boys.

It might just be a byline

The next issue of the Fashion Journal will have a little piece of me in it.  I'm just a teeny bit excited.  I think I might even get a byline.  I may just frame it.  Pathetic i know, but this is a mile stone for me.  I've been working as an intern at FJ for a month now and totally loving it.  All that focusing does take it out of me.  Having to constantly sound witty, funny, smart and write well is a lot of pressure for this novice.  I'm not used to be relying on me.  Hopefully I will start to think I'm actually good at this whole writing thing.  Until that day all I've got to go on is my gut feeling.  I'll post the pieces up when they come out.

Me and my love

It's your lucky week; two doses of 'Me and my love'.  Grazed Youth has some unbelievable cute clothes.  It was established in 2008 by Amelia Thompson.  Her pieces take me back to childhood.  A time where you can walk around in a Batman outfit and not be judged.  Kids don't have inhibitions and these clothes will challenge you to push boundaries with what you wear.  My advice is to just remember that you look cute in the dress.  If you tell yourself this you will own the clothes, not the other way around.  This one particular dress is really quirky and playful.  Just remember to have fun with Grazed Youth and not take yourself to seriously in the clothes.

Me and my love

Just to prove my wish list isn't only build up around shoes, here is another accessory I'm a little in love with; a handbag.  It's called Allie.  It's available online from Nellie & Me.  As the website says; its "a great medium sized bag with the option of a longer strap for wearing across the body.  The school satchel shape is perfect worn back with this season's hot trends."

It would be perfect to take to school and also to strut around the shops.  Somehow my money is M.I.A so i guess its going to have to wait.
